CLOSED CIRCUIT REBREATHER COURSE

Megalodon CCR

The Megalodon CCR Rebreather is a fine piece of diving machine sporting double heavy-duty o-ring seals on all connections, a heavy-duty derlin stack where the electronics and canister are housed. The unit coms without a harness system so individualism is the motto of the day when it comes how to carry the unit ranging from transpack soft packs to stainless steel plates or even Armadillo sidemount systems. The ADV is a nice safety feature addition during busy events or runaway descents. The HUD is a sweet dream to dive with enabling the diver to watch the Po2 at all times, even the busiest ones.

Type of Rebreather:

CCR electronically controlled with three oxygen sensors but can be used manually with diluent and oxygen inflators mounted on the counterlungs.

Number of handsets:

Two hand set electronics easy to use menu with excellent milivolt readings to see when the sensors expire or for oxygen calibration. Great display of batteries voltage to see when they are ready for a new set.

Location of main electronics:

In the original unit the main electronics are located in the lid right next to the sensors, solenoid and battery compartments.

Information displayed in the handsets:

There is not any decompression information given on the handsets, time or depth is displayed at this point. The Po2 is displayed on the main default screen. Set points can be chosen ranging from Manual to 0.4, 0.7, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4.

Heads Up Electronics(HUD:

Rebreather has optional HUD that works great. Amber blink: Po2 is 1.0 Red blink: Per red blink a Po2 of 0.1 below Po2 of 1.0 Green blink: Per green blink a Po2 of 0.1 above Po2 of 1.0

Sensors:

Three Theledyne sensor are used in the original manufacturer version.

Batteries:

Battery packs utilizing AA batteries that have to be soldered together sitting in two independent battery compartments inside the stack and lid together with the main switches.

Automatic Diluent Valve (ADV):

Optional available with older larger version utilizing a Scubapro second stage and newer streamlined version designed by Innerspace Systems.

Tank size and mounting:

Sidemounted on the unit, capable of up to 7 ltr tanks depending on mount used. Tiger gear tank racks working great.

Recommended tank size:

Best with 19 steel cft to 40 cft aluminum tanks

ANDI / TDI / IANTD Megalodon Mixed Closed Circuit Rebreather

Duration : 5-7 days

This is the intermediate level certification course for divers wishing to utilize a Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) for mixed gas diving. The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for mixed gas diving on the ISC Megalodon CCR, utilizing a mixed gas diluent containing sixteen (16%) percent or greater oxygen, and to develop intermediate CCR diving skills appropriate to technical diving to a maximum of two hundred (200) fsw / sixty (60) msw.

Student Pre-Requisites
The student must:
. Be a minimum age of eighteen (18).
. Have a verified log of a minimum of fifty (50) rebreather hours distributed over a minimum of fifty (50) dives on the specific rebreather. Fifty (50) % deeper than sixty six (66) fsw / twenty (20) msw. All to be deeper than twenty (30) fsw / nine (9) msw. If the diver has fifty (50) hours on another CCR unit recognized by TDI , only twenty five (25) hours are required to be on the ISC Megalodon.
Have completed and qualified the TDI Air Diluent Rebreather Course or equivalent from agencies recognized by TDI.

ANDI / TDI / IANTD Megalodon Advance Mixed Closed Circuit Rebreather

Duration : 5-8 days

This is the highest level certification course for divers wishing to utilize the ISC Megalodon Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) for advanced mixed gas diving. The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for advanced mixed gas diving on a CCR and to develop advanced CCR diving skills appropriate to technical diving to a maximum of three hundred thirty (330) fsw / one hundred (100) msw.

Student Pre-Requisites
The student must:
. 1. Be a minimum age of eighteen (18).
. Have a verified log of a minimum of one hundred (100) CCR hours distributed over a minimum of one hundred (100) dives on the ISC Megalodon CCR. Fifty (50) % of these dives must be deeper than one hundred (100) fsw / thirty (30) msw. All to be deeper than twenty (30) fsw / nine (9) msw. If the diver has one hundred (100) hours on another CCR unit recognized by TDI, only fifty (50) hours are required to be on the ISC Megalodon.
